Understanding Stroke
Stroke is a condition that occurs in the brain due to disruption of the blood supply to the brain, causing blood vessels to burst (stroke hemorrhagic) and narrowing (stroke ischemic). As a result, the inside of the brain does not get sufficient nutrition and oxygen supply, causing brain cell death.
Not just one, stroke apparently it consists of two types (based on the causes that trigger it), including:
Hemorrhagic Stroke
Bleeding occurs in the brain due to rupture of blood vessels. This condition is generally triggered by several things, such as being on blood thinning medication, weakening blood vessel walls, and uncontrolled hypertension. Stroke This type is divided into two parts, namely subarachnoid and intracerebral.
Ischemic Stroke
Different from before, stroke This type occurs due to narrowing of the blood vessels that carry oxygen and blood to the brain. As a result, the blood flow supplied to the brain is reduced or what is also known as ischemia. This type is also divided into two, namely stroke embolic and stroke thrombotic.
Stroke Symptoms
There are several symptoms that arise when experiencing stroke are as follows:
- Difficulty in speaking and pronunciation is not very clear even though the sufferer is conscious.
- Unable to lift one arm, both left and right because of numbness or weakness.
- The legs in the same area as the arms also weaken. So, the sufferer finds it difficult to walk.
- Difficulty smiling because the eyes and mouth droop and one part of the face looks droopy.
Causes of Strokes
Anything that can cause a stroke? Here are some of them:
Hypertension
Stroke most commonly occurs due to hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a condition that is often experienced because there is an increase in the arteries beyond normal limits. A person is said to have hypertension if their blood pressure exceeds 90 mmHg and 140 mmHg. The symptoms? Experiencing fatigue, arrhythmia, chest pain, shortness of breath, vision problems, vertigo and back headaches.
Heart disease
One of the triggers for pain stroke is due to heart disease. As is known, heart disease is a condition that causes blood and oxygen circulation to be disrupted. Where, this disorder results in obstructed blood supply to parts of the brain. Because the blood supply is obstructed, it can trigger and increase pain stroke.
Obesity
Obesity and Stroke Fact Sheet from Obesity Coalition reveals that a person's chances of getting a sick stroke will increase if you are also overweight. It doesn't matter whether you are a woman or a man. In fact, the condition can cause hypertension, which is also a condition that triggers stroke.
Genetic
Genetic or hereditary factors can also increase the risk of stroke. When there is a member of Sahabat Premier's family who suffers from stroke, then the risk of stroke may also increase. Therefore, it is very important to carry out regular checks to find out whether there are symptoms of stroke experienced.
